I am just now working with an electrician about this very same thing. He has been taking classes and I’ve been reading and talking with manufactures and we’ve found that there is a lot more to this than you might think. I too was sucked in by the guys offering instructions on building your own systems on the cheap and do it yourself for pennies, hog wash! The average panel cost about $3 per watt wholesale. Then the wiring is critical, the inverter that changes it to usable 110 volts A.C, the system for connection to your house wiring. Then, permits, permission from your energy provider, documentation for the government rebates and incentives. This is the short version. There is no way to build a DIY system for near $200, but you can have a system installed for about $17,000 and in five years realize enough in savings, rebates, and current gov incentives to get all but about $250 bucks. It’s comming up with the inital out lay that’s hard. Good luck
